Janne Pesonen recalled
Forward Janne Pesonen was recalled by the Pittsburgh Penguins today and is expected to dress against Buffalo Friday night.
The recall is likely in response to forward Maxime Talbot’s recent foot injury. Talbot was struck by a puck in the back of his left foot against the New York Islanders on Wednesday and is currently listed day-to-day.
In Pesonen’s case, though, his play is deserving of a recall.
In Wilkes-Barre/Scranton the finnish forward sits third on the team in scoring after 19 games with 21 points (five goals and 16 assists). That assist number leads the team.
Pesonen has played in just one regular season game in the NHL, which was against St. Louis on Nov. 1. He logged 14 shifts in the game and finished with no points and a minus-1 rating. His total ice time was 9:52.
I’m interested to see who he will fit in with against Buffalo. He’s a guy I’d really like to see succeed because I like his style of play. The more hustle guys you have on a team the better.
Likely a third/fourth liner tomorrow, he probably won’t get too much time to work with.
