Tonight’s Game, Pre-season #3

The Penguins have two more games before the regular season starts.

Tonight the Pens play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Friday the two will play once again north of the border.

Of interest for the next two games for fans should be the few young players still on the roster.

The roster was trimmed to 29 players Tuesday, and a few young guys are still hanging around.  Defensively is where we are most likely to see someone new snag a starting job.

Depending on Sergei Gonchar’s injury, Alex Goligoski could get the nod.  He has played well in the first two pre-season games, and with Ryan Whitney also out Goligoski could find himself manning the blue line in Sweden.

The Pens also decided to keep Danny Richmond on defense for the rest of the pre-season.

Offensively, a ton of players were sent back to the AHL.  Most notably were Kris Beech and Ryan Stone.

Those that will play against the Maple Leafs are Paul Bissonnette, Connor James and Bill Thomas.  The rest of the lineup is what you would expect.

Pens fans…the team leaves for Sweden on Saturday.  Get juiced, get ready, get set…lets go!
