The Penguins have officially announced the signings of two more players.

The first is Danny Richmond. The Penguins acquired his rights by trading center Tim Brent from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Both were restricted free agents.

The other new Penguin is center David Gove. This is a re-signing.

Gove came to Wilkes-Barre in a trade last season that sent left winger Joe Jensen to the Albany River Rats.

Gove was a welcomed spark for the Baby Pens. He scored 22 points (15 G – 7 A) in 36 games in the regular season. The center added another 12 points (5 G – 7 A) in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

I’m happy that the Pens re-signed Gove because losing Tim Brent weakened the center position a bit in Wilkes-Barre. Hopefully Gove can continue the progress he made last season and provide similar numbers.

Gove has only played in two National Hockey League games in his career, earning one assist. Both came with the Carolina Hurricanes.
